Job summary

State of Minnesota is seeking Temporary Snowplow Operators across multiple Minnesota districts to support snow and ice operations. Positions will be filled at Transportation Generalist or Transportation Associate levels with shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Immediate CDL and drug testing requirements apply.

Various locations and intermittent, emergency work status. Roles may involve heavy manual labor, long shifts, and reporting to a district truck station.

Qualifications

• CDL with no Airbrake restriction and tanker endorsement within 6 months.
• Preplacement drug test for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP, MDMA/MDA/MDEA and 6‑AM required.
• Must be able to report to work within one hour of being called.
• Working knowledge of English to read, write, speak and understand information.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepare and inspect winter equipment.
• Perform preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Perform winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti‑icing/de‑icing chemicals.
• Install, repair, maintain and remove snow fences; replace mailboxes.
• Maintain documentation on snow/ice data for inventory and resource management.
• Perform traffic control set‑ups and notify dispatch of disabled vehicles.
