Job summary

State of Minnesota is seeking Temporary Snowplow Operators to support MnDOT District 6 with snow and ice operations in multiple towns across the district. Positions are emergency, intermittent, and may require night or weekend shifts, with rapid deployment during snow events.

Minimum qualifications include a valid CDL (Class A or B) with no Airbrake restriction, and the ability to pass pre-employment screenings.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid CDL with no Airbrake restriction and obtain Class A CDL with no Airbrake Restriction and Tanker Endorsement within 6 months.
• Incumbent must pass pre-placement drug test and be in CDL Clearinghouse.
• English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand information and logs.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Handles winter stockpile setup and de-icing chemicals transfer.
• Installs, repairs, maintains, and removes snow fences; replaces mailboxes.
• Maintains documentation on snow/ice data for inventory and resources.
• Performs traffic control set-ups and notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
