Job summary

Optimus Steel in Texas is seeking an HR Generalist to handle day-to-day HR functions and serve as a resource for employees and supervisors. The role spans recruiting, onboarding, benefits, attendance, HR administration, and compliance.

The temporary position requires 2–4 years of HR experience, a Bachelor's degree in a related field, and strong organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS/payroll systems is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or related field preferred.
• 2–4 years of Human Resources experience.
• Experience supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, and HR administration.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support recruiting activities, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offers, pre-employment requirements, and onboarding.
• Coordinate new-hire orientation and ensure all required employment documentation is completed accurately and timely.
• Provide guidance to employees regarding HR policies, benefits, attendance, payroll-related questions, and general HR procedures.
• Support supervisors with employee relations matters, attendance issues, performance documentation, and disciplinary processes.
• Process employee changes, including new hires, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and terminations.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
• Assist employees with benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, and general benefits questions.
• Support leave administration and coordinate required documentation.
• Prepare HR reports, spreadsheets, employee communications, letters, and other documentation.
• Assist with training, employee engagement activities, recruiting events, and other HR initiatives.
• Ensure HR practices and documentation are consistent with company policies and applicable requirements.
• Participate in HR projects and process-improvement initiatives as needed.
