Job summary

Ingham County is seeking a 9-1-1 Temporary Employee to handle emergency and non‑emergency calls in a 24‑hour public safety environment. This role involves determining priorities, coordinating with units, and maintaining CAD and radio communications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• College coursework in Criminal Justice, Emergency Services, Public Safety or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn and maintain operational efficacy of necessary systems, resources, and equipment.
• Receives, evaluates, and prioritizes calls for emergency and non-emergency service.
• Provides pre-arrival emergency medical instructions to the public while emergency personnel are in route.
• Coordinates information between the public and emergency personnel via a CAD system, radios, MDTs, telephones, and other devices.
• Queries, processes and retrieves local court or public safety systems for criminal justice information.
• Regularly performs data entry fluidly and accurately.
• Dispatches appropriate emergency units when necessary.
• Monitors multiple public safety radio talk groups and responds to requests.
• Works unstructured shifts up to 12 hours with breaks; up to 30 hours per week.
