Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent.
  • Candidates MUST have a minimum of one-year of experience dispatching in a municipal, county, or state operated 911 dispatch center.
  • Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification through the IAED is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate two-way radio and multiple line telephone equipment to send and receive emergency and non-emergency communications.
  • Discern voice and other auditory signals in telephone and radio communications.
  • Perform duties while maintaining professionalism during stressful, high volume periods.
  • Communicate verbally in English with proper grammar and diction; Arabic language knowledge is helpful.
  • Handle multiple demands simultaneously, prioritize, and adjust priorities as needed.
  • Operate a microcomputer or terminal keyboard.
  • Discern a range of colors on a color computer monitor.
  • Operate Tele Typewriter (TTY) and other equipment as appropriate.
