Bank of Bird-in-Hand in Manheim is seeking a Teller I to join our team. The teller handles cash transactions, answers questions about accounts, and provides quality service to customers in person and on the phone.

Responsibilities include deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, currency handling, and balancing the drawer daily while adhering to bank policies and privacy requirements. Travel between branches (10–15%) supports staffing and professional development.

Qualifications

• Must have prior experience with cash handling and/or customer service experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in the banking industry preferred.

Bank of Bird-in-Hand is actively seeking a Teller I to join our team at our Manheim Branch.

The Teller receives and pays out money, as well as accurately keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in a financial institution's various transactions. The teller responds to questions concerning customer accounts, both in-person and on the phone, and meets the needs of customers by providing quality service.

Responsibilities:

• Receive checking and savings deposits: verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back and issue receipts of deposit.
• Examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements and complete hold notices.
• Process savings withdrawals. Cash checks: verify endorsement, receive proper identification and ensure validity.
• Answer basic customer inquiries regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations and consumer privacy policies.
• Recognize opportunities to refer clients for additional products.
• Refer customers to the proper department for issues that cannot be resolved at the teller line.
• Count and roll loose coins.
• Accept loan payments: verify payment amount and issue receipts.
• Buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary, ensuring that teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded.
• Ensure teller station is properly supplied.
• Close accounts when requested.
• Adherence to destruction procedures for confidential shred materials.
• Balance drawer daily, including periodic batching of cashed checks.
• Follow all bank policies and procedures
• Accurately and independently count currency.
• 10%-15% travel between branches as necessary for professional development or staffing needs.
• Perform other duties as required.
