Job summary

Dept of State Health Services in Austin is seeking an Epidemiologist I to perform advanced epidemiological work within the HIV/STD/HCV surveillance unit. You will develop data quality checks, provide technical assistance, and perform statistical analyses using SAS, eHARS, and THISIS to ensure accurate HIV reporting.

The role involves designing surveillance tracking, conducting data-driven evaluations, and contributing to reports and grant proposals while adhering to confidentiality policies.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in social science, computer science, statistical analysis, behavioral science or biostatistics.
• Master level degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, social science, or statistical analysis preferred.
• One year experience in applicable public health programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts reviews of alternate record systems to identify unreported cases and ensure data integrity.
• Provides technical assistance to satellite HIV programs and central office surveillance staff.
• Designs surveillance program tracking and quality assurance measures for HIV reporting in THISIS.
• Consolidates and analyzes HIV/AIDS surveillance data to produce evaluation study reports.
