Job summary

Texas Department of State Health Services in Austin, TX is seeking an Epidemiologist II to perform advanced epidemiology work, evaluate potential adverse effects from toxic substances, and support multiple programs.

Under minimal supervision, you will analyze surveillance data, create data visualizations, and contribute to outreach materials. A Masters or higher in epidemiology/biostatistics and experience with Excel, SQL, and statistical software are required.

Qualifications

  • Masters or doctoral degree in epidemiology/biostatistics or a related field.
  • Experience with data collection and data management tools (Excel, Access, SQL, REDCap, etc.).
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (SAS, R, STATA, Python).
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide epidemiology support to multiple programs and publish analyses.
  • Follow up on cases of reportable conditions and perform data quality checks.
  • Develop data visualizations and dashboards for Branch staff and the public.
  • Support disaster response and COOP as needed.
