Job summary

DSHS is seeking an Epidemiologist II in Austin to oversee public data dissemination across multiple health datasets. The role focuses on translating epidemiological analyses into accessible visualizations and data products for diverse audiences.

Collaborate with GIS and data visualization teams and contribute to psychiatric, adolescent, and community health datasets. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college with relevant epidemiology or biostatistics coursework.
• Experience using SAS, R, SQL or other analytical software is preferred.
• Master’s degree is preferred; substitution with applicable experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct complex epidemiological analyses and translate findings into clear data visualizations.
• Manage data program areas and develop diverse public health data products.
• Plan and execute strategic data projects with internal and external partners.
• Support disaster response or continuity of operations as needed.
