UF Health is seeking a Telephone Operator to manage the hospital switchboard, answer and announce Code calls, monitor alarms and CCTV, and support the Patient Registration Department with clerical tasks.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to work under pressure, discretion with confidential information under HIPAA, and English fluency. This is a front-line role with potential for flexible hours in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience with answering multi-line phones or switchboards preferred.
• Ability to work under stress and manage multiple tasks.
• Experience in hospital environment and flexible hours.
• Experience dealing with the public and customer service.
• Discretion with confidential information to comply with HIPAA; read/write/speak English.

Overview

The Telephone Operator has a large range of duties. These responsibilities include monitoring all incoming calls that come in to the hospital through the switchboard, answering and announcing all Code calls, monitoring alarms and monitoring the CCTV for the hospital and others as required. The PBX Operator assists the Patient Registration Department with clerical duties as needed. All PBX Operators are to abide by the policies and procedures established by the department and hospital at all times.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma/GED

Training/Experience Required:

• Answering multi phone line or switchboard experience preferred


• Working under stress, dealing with different situation simultaneously


• Working in a hospital environment and flexible hours


• Experience in dealing with the public and customer service


• Discretion is necessary in the handling of confidential information to remain in compliance with all HIPAA requirements Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
