Job summary

Jefferson Health-Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, PA seeks an experienced registered nurse to lead the daily operations of a designated unit, coordinate patient care delivery, and mentor colleagues on Magnet and Shared Governance initiatives.

You will work with interprofessional teams to assess needs, optimize throughput, manage staffing, and ensure adherence to quality standards, while supporting professional development and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Specialized Diploma graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• 3 years as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting.
• Effective communication and collaboration with patients and families to support partnership in care.
• Knowledge of patient safety, discharge planning, and care coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
• Understanding and application of health information documentation and nursing practice standards.
• Active RN license in Pennsylvania (PA).
• Bachelor’s degree BSN or higher preferred; certification in specialty may be required.
• Ability to participate in Magnet and Shared Governance through leadership and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff in a manner consistent with Jefferson values.
• Communicates with interprofessional teams to support patient and family partners in care.
• Collaborates with medical staff to ensure consistency of interdisciplinary care plans.
• Assesses patient needs and recommends care plans based on physical, psychosocial, and cultural factors.
• Facilitates patient throughput optimization across admissions, transfers, and discharge.
• Manages staff schedules and payroll in collaboration with the Nurse Manager; supports scheduling changes as needed.
• Supports nursing professional development, Magnet, and Shared Governance through participation in councils and the Clinical Ladder program.
