Job summary

Cooley Dickinson Hospital is hiring a part-time Patient Care Associate (PCA) to perform a variety of patient care and clerical duties. The role supports patient safety and unit operations under the Nurse Manager, within the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit.

Positions available for days and nights; onsite location at 30 Locust Street; pay range listed below and comprehensive benefits offered. Completion of the required certifications and experience as listed are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
• Ability to perform routine patient care activities under supervision of licensed personnel.
• Nursing assistant certification, medical assistant certification, or active nursing student with 6+ months clinical experience is required.
• Six months to one year nursing assistant experience is required.
• One to three years secretarial experience preferred.
• Health care experience preferred.
• Ability to multi-task and handle stress effectively.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and typing/ computer skills.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and non-direct patient care duties; assist with routine patient care.
• Perform clerical, supply, and messenger tasks as needed.
• Operate within unit policies and report to Nurse Manager; may observe patients for safety when 1:1 is required.
