Job summary

BNSF Railway's Telecommunications Department in Kansas City is seeking a Telecom Electronic Technician II. This full-time role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining railroad communications systems across a 6-day work week with on-call duties, overtime, and regional travel.

You will troubleshoot RF and digital telecom equipment, read schematics, solder components, and use test gear. Company-paid training and a safety-first culture support growth within the team.

Qualifications

• 2 years minimum of verifiable electronics experience or post-high school training.
• Associate degree in Electronics or Vocational Certificate in Electronics technology or 2 years of related verifiable experience.
• Must pass Electronic Technician II qualification test with 80% or better.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain telecommunications equipment including radios, MW, RF data link devices.
• Configure and test wired and wireless systems, AEI, IP networks, VoIP, cameras, and RF data links.
• Troubleshoot electronics at component level and record repairs in the Repair Tracking System.
• Read schematics for circuit board and component level troubleshooting and repair.
• Calibrate and configure devices with Windows/Linux, IP networking, and soldering on THT/SMD components.
