Job summary

BNSF Railway is hiring a Telecommunications Department Telecom Electronic Technician II in Kansas City, KS. The role focuses on installing, repairing, and maintaining telecom systems to keep trains running safely and efficiently.

This full-time position requires on-call availability, shift work, and travel within the assigned region. Training is provided on-the-job and in the classroom, with union-guided schedules and overtime based on seniority.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years minimum electronics experience or post-high school training.
• Ability to read, write and communicate English.
• Experience doing soldering work.
• Able to lift up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain various telecommunications equipment including radios, MW, RF data link equipment.
• Install, assemble, repair, adjust, test and maintain wired and wireless systems, IP networks, VoIP, cameras, RF communications, and related devices.
• Troubleshoot telecommunications devices to component level and log repairs in the Repair Tracking System.
• Configure and use testing equipment to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Read and interpret electronic schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
• Inspect and calibrate devices, configure IP networking devices, and perform advanced soldering on THD and SMD.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment and adhere to PPE and safety policies.
