Job summary

Louisiana State Police seeks an IT Technical Support Analyst for the Mobile Communications Services team. The role focuses on designing and supporting faster telecom and data systems, with responsibilities spanning maintenance, deployment, and optimization of radio and data networks across statewide infrastructure.

Qualified candidates may enter at IT Analyst 1–3 levels, with work hours 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, Mon–Fri. Compensation varies by qualifications, with CDL premium pay up to $2/hour.

Qualifications

• Three years IT experience OR six years in any field plus one year IT experience
• Associate’s degree in IT plus one year IT experience
• Bachelor’s degree plus one year IT experience
• Bachelor’s degree with 24 IT semester hours in IT/CS/engineering/math/business analytics
• Experience substitution: 30 semester hours per year of experience, up to 120 semester hours (max 4 years)
• Certification in an approved area may substitute for education/experience at hire or promotion

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance on multiple radio tower sites (standby power, HVAC, alarm, antennas, base station repeaters) as part of a statewide voice and data network
• Installations, optimizations, and modifications of communication system components and network
• Diagnosis and repair of vehicular and portable radio/mobile data equipment
• Support critical operations and emergency equipment deployments
• Understand programming, modifying, and installing software/templates for portable radios and mobile data terminals
• Maintain dispatch center communication systems (voice recorders, radio consoles, MDIs)
• Configure routers, switches, WAN bridges, wireless devices, and other network components across terminals and servers
