Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a Teen Advisor at the Staten Island South Shore Center. This part-time role reports to the Teen Coordinator and oversees Teen Center, Rowe Scholars, Leaders Club, and Saturday Night Lights, including recruiting participants and documenting outcomes.

The Teen Advisor will maintain a safe, engaging environment, develop lesson plans, manage program records, and collaborate with staff to meet city and YMCA standards—empowering youth through SEL and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college credits preferred.
• Minimum of one year working with pre-teens and teens (ages 13+).
• General knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Access/Adobe tools preferred.
• Must complete Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants with close supervision.
• Plan, create, and facilitate lesson plans for programs.
• Manage data entry and participant paperwork; conduct program surveys.
• Supervise and foster positive adolescent behavior with respect and empathy.
• Build relationships with participants, their friends, and families.
• Lead programs with a focus on social-emotional learning and skill development.
