Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York is seeking a Teen Advisor for the Chinatown location in New York, NY. Under the Teen Coordinator, you will lead the Teen Center, Rowe Scholars, Leaders Club, and Saturday Night Lights, advertising and recruiting participants, and ensuring proper documentation.

You will supervise teen activities, deliver lesson plans, and monitor outcomes to meet funder expectations while maintaining a safe, inclusive environment for teens and families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with pre-teens and teens (ages 13 and older).
• General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of Access, Adobe PageMaker, and Photoshop preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants with close supervision.
• Plan, create, and facilitate lesson plans for all programs.
• Manage administrative data entry, coordinate participant paperwork, conduct program surveys, and meet City/ YMCA requirements.
• Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, and encouragement.
• Develop positive relationships with participants, friends, and family members.
• Lead programming focusing on Social Emotional Learning and skill development.
• Collaborate with staff across departments.
• Create a diverse, culturally sensitive environment for teens.
• Attend meetings, training sessions, and special events.
• Adhere to Department of Health and YMCA standards and regulations.
