Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York invites applications for a Teen Advisor at the Broadway Center in Staten Island. Under the Teen Coordinator, you will supervise Teen Center, Rowe Scholars, Leaders Club, and Saturday Night Lights, and help advertise and recruit participants.

You will ensure safety, plan lessons, manage data entry in Youth Service.NET, handle paperwork, and report outcomes to meet city and YMCA standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year experience with pre-teens/teens.
• MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint basics; Access/PageMaker/Photoshop preferred.
• Must complete Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire.
• Strong interpersonal skills and leadership with diverse youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants; supervise activities; keep spaces clean.
• Plan, create, and facilitate lesson plans for all programs.
• Data entry in Youth Service.NET; coordinate paperwork; conduct program surveys; meet city and YMCA requirements.
• Manage adolescent behavior with respect, maturity, and encouragement.
• Develop positive relationships with participants, friends, and families.
• Lead programming emphasizing Social Emotional Learning and skill development.
• Collaborate with professional staff and other departments.
• Foster a diverse, culturally sensitive environment for teens.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and special events.
• Adhere to Department of Health, YMCA standards, and funder regulations.
