Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Part-Time Teen Program Coordinator at Pearl Street Family YMCA in Tacoma, WA to help plan and run engaging teen activities.

You will work with the Youth & Teen Program Director to create welcoming spaces, plan Late Nite events, mentor staff, and support families while maintaining YMCA standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, budgeting, scheduling, and ensuring a positive, inclusive environment for teens.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent (preferred).
• 1–2 years’ related experience as a coordinator of people or activities (preferred).
• Ability to use computer and typical business software and office machines.
• Positive attitude and previous experience with teens and diverse populations.
• Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, and file maintenance.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).
• Background and Reference checks will be performed per WA State Fair Chance Act.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
• Willingness to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other required trainings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and coordinating staff interviews, trainings, meetings, and teen events, including Late Nite programming.
• Develop engaging lesson plans, curriculum, and new program ideas to enhance the teen experience.
• Support supervision, mentoring, recognition, and development of part-time instructors, volunteers, and program participants.
• Visit program sites to ensure quality, safety, engagement, and YMCA standards adherence.
• Assist with managing teen behavior and fostering a positive, inclusive environment.
• Support staff and program evaluations, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
• Create and manage staff schedules, class rosters, and timekeeping to maintain staffing ratios and budget.
• Monitor program budgets and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for families via phone, email, and in-person communication.

Wage:$20.06 to $20.74 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Location:Pearl Street Family YMCA, Tacoma, WA
