Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Youth Program Coordinator at the Tom Taylor Family YMCA in Gig Harbor, WA. This part-time role supports the Youth Program Director in planning, coordinating, and implementing youth programs and events, with opportunities to lead activities and manage schedules.

The position requires 1–3 years in a related program area, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and CPR/First Aid/AED certifications.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of direct program experience preferred.
• At least 1 year coordinating people or activities preferred.
• Positive attitude and experience with diverse populations.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of program safety standards and current trends.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
• Pass background and reference checks as per WA State Fair Chance Act.
• Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive environment.
• Willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other trainings.

Job description

Position: Youth Program Coordinator

Wage: $20.60 to $20.75 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Tom Taylor Family YMCA, Gig Harbor, WA

As a Youth Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing assistance to the Youth Program Director in coordinating, planning, and implementing programs and events that supports our youth programming.

Qualifications:

• One to three years of direct experience in program area (preferred).
• Minimum of one year coordinating people or activities is preferred.
• Positive attitude and previous experience with varying ages and diverse populations.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of program specific safety and standards, latest trends and the ability to articulate and incorporate them.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
• Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
• Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Update and prepare program schedules, communication, and other necessary resources.
• Manage class registration functions as assigned.
• Assist with managing coverage and overall schedule to ensure positive program experience.
• Effectively engage and lead volunteers and staff to provide quality programming for participants.
• Cultivate positive relationships to influence a positive staff and volunteer experience.
