Job summary

The Akron-Summit County Public Library is hiring a full-time TechZone Assistant at the Main Library in Akron, OH. The role supports visitors with technology needs, operates recording studios, laser engraver, and other tools, and helps with programs and projects to enrich learning and leisure.

You will greet customers, provide in-person and remote tech support, assist with equipment upkeep, and contribute to social media content and outreach while maintaining library policies and service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to help customers use personal and library technology.
• Ability to provide in-person and remote technical support.
• Ability to become a passport agent and notary (if required).

Responsibilities

• Greets customers in a friendly and accessible manner.
• Advises and assists customers in using all technology and equipment, offering instruction.
• Resolves technical questions by providing information tailored to the user.
• Performs circulation, delivery, and service desk duties.
• Assists with cleaning, servicing, and maintenance of TechZone equipment.
• Interprets library policies to the public in a customer-responsive manner.
• Trains new hires and staff on TechZone routines.
• Performs clerical duties as needed.
• Assists with programs and projects including merchandising library materials.
• Maintains supply stock and places orders.
• Addresses problem situations and maintains order as needed.
• Performs opening and closing routines.
