Qualifications

• High school diploma required; two years of related experience preferred.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, computers, and basic technology troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with library resources, reference services, and office equipment preferred.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask and work independently.
• Professional, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and at multiple branch locations as needed.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds, move loaded book carts, and perform shelving and other physical library duties.
• Reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates Welcoming Behaviors and internal service standards with guests and staff.
• Interprets library policies and assists with reference questions and catalog use.
• Maintains knowledge of library materials and promotes services to all ages.
• Answers reference questions in person or by phone using various formats.
• Provides reader's advisory services and bibliographic instruction.
• Reserves materials and facilitates interlibrary loans via a holds system.
• Participates in marketing library services and programs.
• Trains the public in using computers, online catalogs, and printers.
• Uses circulation system to check in/out materials and handle holds and fines.
• Helps with opening/closing duties and maintains branch appearance.
• Maintains Dewey Decimal shelving and handles donations processing.
• Performs general clerical duties and records engagement statistics.
• Monitors branch safety and notifies management of issues.
• Participates in professional development opportunities.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
