Job description

Transdev in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced Technician II to bolster our team. This position requires the level of knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and repair commercial vehicles and equipment. The technician must effectively work and communicate with employees and customers. Key requirements include daily safety inspections, minimal reworks, and maintaining production standards with a focus on timeliness and quality of repairs. As a Technician II, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity of our assets.

Major Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and accurately perform all phases of vehicle repairs.
  • Remove, clean, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components.
  • Engine repair and diagnosis.
  • Driveline components.
  • Electrical/electronic components.
  • Brakes/suspension/steering/exhaust.
  • Cab/chassis.
  • Hydraulics.
  • Various scan tools proficiency.
  • Ensure work orders are properly completed.
  • Select appropriate course of action for repairs.
  • Evaluate completed work prior to release.
  • Ensure safe use of power and hand‑held tools.
  • Perform road calls and emergency services as necessary.
  • Move vehicles safely between job and work area.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, team members and supervisors.
  • Actively participate in safety or educational training as required.
  • Continuous ASE/EVT re‑certification is required to remain in job classification.
  • Other responsibilities as requested or required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years direct automotive repair experience.
  • Experience monitoring and meeting PM schedules and operating automotive repair shop equipment.
  • Appropriate mechanic’s tool set.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build solid relationships with superiors, peers, and subordinates.
  • Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
Physical Requirements
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting of light and heavy objects, climbing ladders/stairs/ramps or scaffolding, and use of tools and equipment requiring manual dexterity.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds.
