Job description

Transdev in Paramount, CA is seeking an experienced Technician II to bolster our team. This position requires the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and repair commercial vehicles and equipment, as well as the ability to effectively work and communicate with employees and customers. Daily safety inspections, minimal reworks, and maintenance of production standards are required, with a focus on timeliness and quality of repairs.

Major Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and accurately perform all phases of vehicle repairs
  • Remove, clean, repair, reinstall, and adjust vehicle components
  • Engine repair and diagnosis
  • Driveline components repair
  • Electrical/electronic component troubleshooting
  • Brake, suspension, steering, and exhaust overhaul
  • Cab/chassis maintenance
  • Hydraulics repair
  • Proficient use of various scan tools
  • Ensure work orders are properly completed
  • Select appropriate course of action for repairs
  • Evaluate completed work prior to release
  • Ensure safe use of power and hand‑held tools
  • Perform road calls and emergency services as necessary
  • Move vehicles safely between job and work area
  • Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors
  • Actively participate in safety or educational training as required
  • Maintain continuous ASE/EVT re‑certification to remain in the job classification
  • Other responsibilities as requested or required
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of three years of direct automotive repair experience
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring and meeting preventive maintenance schedules and operating automotive repair shop equipment
  • Appropriate mechanic’s tool set
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build solid relationships with superiors, peers, and subordinates
  • Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing (DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40)
Physical Requirements
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting light and heavy objects, climbing ladders/stairs/ramps or scaffolding, and using tools and equipment that require high manual dexterity
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds
