The Technical Writer serves as a bridge between customers, product management, and software engineering. This position is responsible for documenting product requirements, creating customer-facing documentation, and supporting product delivery from concept through implementation. This role works closely with stakeholders, development, QA, support, and product teams to translate product and technical information into documentation and requirements materials that help internal and external audiences understand and successfully use Hilton Software products.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), system documentation, and API documentation.
- Develop and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs), user stories, process flows, and use cases.
- Produce diagrams, wireframes, and mock-ups that clarify requirements, processes, and system design.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts, project managers, developers, QA, and external teams.
- Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, demos, and related Agile ceremonies as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technical communication, business, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in technical writing, software documentation, user guides, release notes, requirements documentation, business analysis support, QA, or a related software development environment preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to quickly learn complex products, workflows, systems, and technologies.
- Experience creating or maintaining product documentation, BRDs, FRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, business requirements, use cases, process flows, technical specifications, and procedural materials.
- Understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
- Experience working in Agile and Scrum environments.
- Experience with documentation and collaboration platforms such as GitLab, Confluence, Jira, Figma, and Lucidchart.
- Experience creating screen mock-ups, diagrams, workflows, visuals, and user experience support materials.
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders, subject matter experts, developers, QA, support, product, and management teams.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English with the ability to explain complex topics clearly for technical and non-technical audiences.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of SQL scripting and REST APIs is a plus.
- Experience with RFI/RFP is considered a strong advantage.
- Experience with mobile platforms, operating systems, software QA testing, UAT, or validation of software requirements preferred.
