Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Technical Service Representative in Saint Louis, MO to serve as the primary technical liaison between customers and internal teams. This role blends laboratory analysis, troubleshooting, and customer interaction across Sales, R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing to deliver specialty chemical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related technical discipline.
• Hands-on laboratory experience in chemical manufacturing, coatings, polymer, specialty chemical, or related environment.
• Experience troubleshooting products and resolving technical issues.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret data and provide actionable recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and customer priorities.
• Strong customer-service mindset and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable working in laboratory and customer-facing environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, providing product support and troubleshooting.
• Investigate product performance concerns and customer complaints, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
• Analyze resin and varnish samples, interpret laboratory findings, and provide technical recommendations.
• Conduct laboratory testing and product evaluations while documenting methods, results, and conclusions.
• Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Sales, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Customer Service teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Support customer visits, product demonstrations, technical presentations, and field evaluations.
• Develop and deliver technical training programs for customers, distributors, and internal teams.
• Assist the commercial team with new business opportunities, product qualifications, and customer onboarding.
• Provide project updates and manage multiple customer requests and technical priorities simultaneously.
• Represent the company at customer meetings, technical conferences, and industry events.
• Champion safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
