Gusto is seeking a driven Sales/Customer Service professional to onboard small business customers to payroll and HR while leveraging AI tools to streamline processes. You will handle high-volume conversations, learn payroll and tax rules across states, and identify opportunities to grow revenue.

This entry-level role offers training and clear paths into Implementations and Solutions Engineering, with a strong emphasis on customer success and continuous learning in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in a high-volume sales or customer service role with cross-selling or quotas.
• Eager to learn about a brand new industry, tax codes, and payroll principles.
• Customer-obsessed with strong consultative communication.

Responsibilities

• Handle high-volume customer interactions across phone and email from onboarding to running first payroll.
• Own your ticket queue and manage your opportunity pipeline.
• Proactively position plan upgrades and surface cross-sell opportunities for Health Insurance, Workers' Comp, and 401(k).
• Catch tax discrepancies live and troubleshoot state portals to ensure compliance.
• Configure sick time, PTO, and overtime policies to keep companies compliant from day one.
• Collaborate with Risk and other teams; know when to escalate to a specialist.
• Use AI tools daily to surface frictions and provide feedback for tool improvements.
