Job summary

Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) in the United States is seeking a Payroll Technician to provide guidance and support to other payroll staff. The role ensures deadlines and technical payroll requirements are met, and handles complex pay calculations.

You will train junior payroll technicians, coordinate with the payroll contractor, process employee payrolls in automated and manual systems, and prepare reports while ensuring compliance with NES policies and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Three years of administrative, professional, technical, or other responsible work with knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
• Experience with payroll processing and related accounting procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in meeting deadlines and payroll requirements and provide technical payroll guidance.
• May train payroll technicians on processing procedures and requirements.
• Maintain liaison with payroll contractor to resolve issues.
• Process employee payrolls in automated and manual systems.
• Interface with banks, associates, and timekeepers to resolve payroll problems.
• Coordinate and ensure consistency in internal work methods and procedures.
• Make payroll adjustments for prior pay periods and conduct extensive research when needed.
• Maintain payroll records and prepare regular and ad-hoc reports and forms.
• Maintain knowledge of NES payroll systems and state and federal payroll regulations.
• Demonstrate customer service orientation and work with team to ensure quality support.
• Work under supervision of Payroll Manager.
