Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a Technical Laboratory Supervisor to oversee waived testing across six Duluth-area clinics. This leader will supervise six direct reports at two locations, support bench operations and patient care, and ensure training, compliance, and scheduling align with regulatory standards.

The role may involve phlebotomy as needed and requires ASCP or equivalent certification with a four-year degree in Medical Laboratory Science and 2 years of hospital/clinic lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
• Meets CLIA guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing for the alternative route.
• Minimum 2 years of hospital/clinic laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversees operations of the laboratory’s technical section(s).
• Manages staff, workflows, and daily operations.
• Maintains policies and procedures.
• Performs staff competency assessments.
• Monitors statistics and test utilization.
• Ensures fiscal responsibility.
• Complies with regulatory standards and maintains accreditation.
• Manages human resources according to Essentia Health guidelines.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
• Promotes positive relationships with patients, coworkers, other departments, external partners and stakeholders.
• Collaborates with departments and committees to maintain a high level of care.
