Job summary

Key People in New York is seeking a Technical Designer to join their women's apparel team, turning concept into production with precise tech packs, fit sessions, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will ensure samples meet quality, construction, and brand standards, manage BOMs and documentation, and partner with Design, Product Development, and Manufacturing to drive on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or Technical Design.
• 3–5 years of Technical Design experience in apparel.
• Experience with women's apparel; outerwear/activewear preferred.
• Proficient in Illustrator and CAD; strong garment construction knowledge.
• Attention to detail with accurate measurement, grading, and fit.
• Strong written and verbal communication across teams and vendors.
• Analytical thinking with ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed tech packs with sketches, measurements, grading, and construction details.
• Create and manage BOMs, packaging, care labels, carton markings, and related docs.
• Conduct and participate in fit sessions using live models.
• Analyze fit and communicate revisions to vendors and internal teams.
• Review prototypes and pre-production garments with pattern makers and manufacturers.
• Ensure samples meet fit, quality, construction, and design intent before production.
• Identify development challenges and propose practical solutions balancing design and cost.
• Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Production, and external partners.
• Keep projects aligned with timelines, quality, and brand standards.
