Job summary

The New Jersey State Office of Innovation is seeking a Technology Operations Director to manage our platforms, oversee security, and lead a small team in a startup-like public-sector environment. You will drive policy, procurement decisions, and long-term operational projects across NJOIs technology stack.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will collaborate with multiple departments to ensure scalable, secure, and user-friendly digital services for New Jersey residents.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in technical roles with strong excellence.
• 2+ years leading cloud-based IT platform administration.
• 1+ year in people management.
• Experience solving complex problems in bureaucratic settings with agile approaches.
• Proficiency in modern IT security practices and SSO/ MFA.

Responsibilities

• System administration of Office of Innovation platforms (Google Workspace, AWS, GitHub, Slack).
• Liaise with State IT Office on security and cloud policies; manage licensing and access controls.
• Lead procurement and asset replacement with finance and procurement teams.
• Design and implement policies to improve security, hardware/software utilization, and processes.
• Provide clear technical counsel to project teams and stakeholders.
