Job summary

Vanguard’s Technology Leadership Program (TLP) Data Scientist track invites early‑career technologists to learn through three rotations, building expertise in machine learning, analytics, and leadership while delivering real business impact.

You will design and apply models on large data sets, partner with engineers and business teams, and develop communication skills to influence decisions across Vanguard.

Qualifications

• Master's, MBA, or relevant advanced degree in Data & Analytics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative or analytical field
• Strong interest in machine learning, AI, and advanced analytics
• Experience with programming languages such as Python or SQL, and familiarity with analytical or modeling tools
• Demonstrated leadership potential, initiative, and ability to take ownership of work
• Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply machine learning models and advanced statistical techniques to solve business problems
• Work with large and complex data sets to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities
• Design experiments, build predictive and prescriptive models, and support model validation efforts
• Translate business problems into analytical approaches and deliver solutions from concept to implementation
• Partner with data, engineering, and business teams to drive data-informed decision-making
• Communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Take ownership of projects and contribute to delivering high-impact outcomes
• Collaborate across teams, share insights, and influence strategic decisions
• Build a network with program managers, alumni, senior leaders, and peers
• Meet regularly with your department manager and program manager to receive personalized coaching and mentorship
