Job summary

Palmdale Regional Medical Center, part of Universal Health Services, is seeking an ER Technician to support the Emergency Department under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role covers age groups from infancy to geriatrics and focuses on maintaining smooth patient flow through direct and indirect care.

Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, current BLS certification, CPI within 30 days of hire, and CA EMT/CNA/MA eligibility or RN program enrollment with two semesters

Qualifications

• One year experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• CPI is required within 30 days of hire.
• CA EMT, CNA or Medical Assistant required –OR- Currently enrolled in RN program with successful completion of 2 semesters of clinical coursework.
• Basic dysrhythmia certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• administer patient care to designated patients under RN/physician supervision.
• follow plan of care and manage patient needs across age groups.
• perform direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department to maintain smooth patient flow.
• provide emergency care knowledge for all ages from infancy to geriatric.

Position Description

Reporting to the Director of Emergency Services the ER Technician is responsible to administer patient care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Follows the plan of care set by the registered nurse and/or physician, managing the individual needs of the patient with regards to their age and clinical diagnosis. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties in the Emergency Department in order to ensure and maintaining smooth patient flow. The E.R. Technician has specialized skills and knowledge in Emergency Care for all patients from infancy through geriatric.

Qualifications

Job Duties/Responsibilities Requirements:

• One year experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association
• CPI is required within 30 days of hire.
• CA EMT, CNA or Medical Assistant required –OR- Currently enrolled in RN program with successful completion of 2 semesters of clinical coursework.
• Basic dysrhythmia certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
