Job summary

MAOF's Acosta Center in Monterey County seeks a Teacher Assistant to support instruction and care for preschool children. You will work under the Center Supervisor and teachers, following lesson plans, and help document children's development.

Responsibilities include assisting groups, supervising children, and maintaining a positive learning environment. A high school diploma or GED and English proficiency are required, with preferred 1 year of classroom or volunteer preschool experience.

Job Summary


To assist in the instruction and care of the children and to provide for adequate adult supervision of children. Under the direction of the Center Supervisor, and the Teacher(s) to whom assigned, assists in instruction and instructors’ groups of children, following lesson plans, and assists in assessing and documenting children's development.


Qualifications



  • High school diploma or GED.

  • One (1) year of classroom paid experience or volunteer experience working in a pre-school/childcare setting, preferred.

  • Ability to communicate, both oral and written

  • Ability to speak, read and write English well enough to understand and be understood by others.

  • Ability to relate to diverse groups of people including low-income families.

  • Sensitive to others needs.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Sincere commitment to providing services to children and the community.

  • Ability to assess and respond quickly to varied situations.
