Job summary

High Country Line Construction is seeking a T&D Associate Estimator I to develop cost estimates for transmission, distribution and substation work. The role includes field walks, vendor proposal solicitation, and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure accurate estimates.

The position is part of a comprehensive training program, with travel for site visits and emphasis on learning and applying cost estimation techniques within our projects.

Qualifications

• Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time/cost/labor estimates for projects and services.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and related tools.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or assist in preparing complete cost estimates for transmission, distribution and substation projects.
• Plan and execute work to meet submission deadlines.
• Attend field job walks with customers, subcontractors, and construction personnel to determine constructability requirements.
• Travel for on-site visits, including possible overnight stays.
• Perform quantity take-offs and evaluations for estimate preparation.
• Solicit vendor pricing and subcontractor proposals, prepare RFQ/RFP packages.
• Compare project documents for accuracy and consistency.
• Participate in estimate review with stakeholders.
• Assist in tracking basis of cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist in preparation and submission of change orders.
• Participate in project close-out meetings.
