Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development seeks an expert Systems Movable Bridge Maintenance Engineer (Engineer 6 DCL) in the Bridge Maintenance Unit 002. Lead designs for repair and rehabilitation of electrical and mechanical systems on movable bridges, tunnels, and pump stations statewide.

Responsibilities include developing PS&Es, managing budgets, coordinating with district teams, reviewing contractor submittals, and providing field engineering support during construction.

Qualifications

• Licensed professional engineer in Louisiana with either 2 years licensed experience or 6 years professional engineering experience.
• Master's degree can substitute for one year; doctorate for two years.
• Engineering licenses from other states allowed; must obtain LA license.

Responsibilities

• Lead designs for repair and rehabilitation of electrical or mechanical systems on movable bridges, tunnels, and pump stations statewide.
• Prepare PS&Es, plans, specifications and construction estimates for complex movable system projects.
• Coordinate with district engineers during construction; perform field inspections and respond to RFIs.
• Review consultant contracts and assess contractor performance.
• Support building facility systems; provide emergency/maintenance responses as needed.
