Job summary

HDR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, inspect, and coordinate mechanical systems for movable bridges and other heavy movable structures. The role includes office and field work, travel may be required, and mentorship of junior staff is expected.

Required is a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 5 years of design experience on movable structures, and a PE/P.Eng license. Prior consulting firm experience is preferred; local candidates are favored.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 5 years’ experience in mechanical design on movable bridges and other heavy movable structures.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or P.Eng license recognized by licensing board.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and inspection on movable bridges and other heavy movable structures.
• Coordinate workload to complete on schedule and on budget.
• Review mechanical documents.
• Perform inspections and write associated reports.
• Write/edit mechanical specifications and select equipment, systems and devices.
• Provide construction support as needed.
• Conduct QA/QC and coordinate with the work of other Mechanical Engineers, Mechanical Coordinators or Technicians.
• Work will include a mixture of office and field work and may require travel.
• Mentor younger mechanical staff.
