Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to lead the deployment of advanced fulfillment technologies in a fast-growing environment. You will own development and improvement of deployment processes, validate lab and field activities, and troubleshoot complex systems across multiple sites and teams.

The role requires strong programming and control-system experience, collaboration with product teams, and a willingness to travel up to 75% across North America.

Qualifications

• Experience programming in at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby).
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments.
• 1+ year control system experience including PLC/IPC based controls design, development, and support.
• Experience with automated material handling equipment and robotics.
• Experience in lifecycle embedded systems development (hardware, software, testing).
• Experience with 3-phase electrical systems and industrial networking (TCP/IP, Fieldbus).

Responsibilities

• Support installation of complex cross-functional projects across geographies.
• Deliver high-quality, on-time projects with low defects and maintainable designs.
• Define milestones, track KPIs, and manage schedules to deadlines.
• Deep-dive into technical solutions for material handling systems and convey equipment.
• Participate in design reviews and coordinate with vendors on specs and layouts.
• Communicate project status clearly to program management.
• Capture VoC for new product introductions and prioritize defects.
• Build strong relationships with Fulfillment Center staff and other stakeholders across sites.
• Identify process improvement opportunities within operations or deployment.
• Develop cross-functional knowledge of operations and engineering processes.
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors for cost-effective solutions.
• Travel up to 75% across North America.
