Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to lead the deployment of next-generation fulfillment systems. You will own development of deployment processes, validate and test in lab and field, and troubleshoot complex automation solutions.

The role requires coordinating with Fulfillment Center Operations and product development teams, with a focus on safety, reliability, and efficiency across multiple sites nationwide.

Qualifications

• Experience automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
• Linux/Unix experience required.
• 3+ years control systems experience with PLC/IPC-based designs.
• Experience with automated material handling equipment and robotics (FANUC, ABB, UR).
• Ability to produce technical documentation (flow diagrams, layouts, installation details).
• Embedded systems development across hardware and software will be valuable.
• Industrial networking familiarity (TCP/IP, Fieldbus).
• Experience with 3-phase electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the installation of complex cross-functional projects with significant impact.
• Coordinate with internal and external engineering teams to deliver high-quality projects on time and on budget.
• Define milestones, schedules, and KPIs to measure project success and defects.
• Deep-dive technical solutions covering advanced technology applications, conveyor hardware, and integration.
• Participate in design reviews and support vendor collaboration on equipment specs and site layout.
• Communicate project status with clear summaries to program management.
• Capture Voice of Customer for new product introductions to prioritize defects and guide triage.
• Develop cross-functional knowledge of Operations and Engineering tools and processes.
• Travel up to 75% across North America.
