Job summary

RTX is hiring a System Safety Engineer II for an onsite role in Tucson, AZ. You will develop and implement safety strategies, hazard analyses, and safety program tasks in support of DoD requirements.

The position emphasizes collaboration across IPTs, ensuring safety hazards are identified and mitigated throughout the system lifecycle. The role requires a STEM degree with at least two years of relevant experience and an active DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
• Active/transferable DoD security clearance is preferred
• Experience with MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses (task series 100, 200, 300, 400) is a plus

Responsibilities

• Execute the safety strategy for the program to meet milestones with system safety/HSI features integrated into the product
• Support the IMS schedule and integrated system safety tasks
• Engage the Lead System Safety Engineer for guidance on technical execution and reviews
• Support multi-IPT program meetings to ensure system safety items are considered
• Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and mitigations
• Meet internal and external commitments (deliveries)
• Own technical solutions and collaborate across IPTs to deliver a successful product
