Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD invites students in engineering, physics, or mathematics to join our System Modeling, Evaluation and Planning Group as an intern to support data-driven system analysis and planning tasks with a multidisciplinary team.

As an intern you may develop models and perform data analyses, learn about inertial navigation, build C++ algorithms, and contribute to evaluating flight system accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in engineering, physics, or mathematics.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and expand capabilities.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Eligible for Interim Secret clearance with potential for Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate mathematical and computational models of defense systems.
  • Perform data-driven analyses to assess performance and risk.
  • Develop C++ algorithms to optimize trajectories for hypersonic systems.
  • Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to analyze nuclear survivability of weapon systems.
