Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an entry-level analyst to support the technical evaluation of the nation's primary strategic deterrents. You will join a multidisciplinary team of engineers, physicists, and mathematicians and help maintain high-fidelity physics models, analyze flight/test data, and contribute to architecture development.

You will develop data analysis tools in C++, MATLAB, or Python and document findings in technical reports, with mentorship

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Applied Math, Applied Statistics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Strong foundational skills in C++, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Solid grasp of linear algebra, calculus, and basic probability/statistics.
  • Willingness to learn complex physical systems and read technical docs.
  • Eligibility for Interim Secret clearance by start date and potential Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Model Support: refine high-fidelity physics models of complex systems.
  • Data Analysis: process real-world data to identify model discrepancies.
  • Experimental Support: assist in designing experiments to validate hypotheses.
  • Architecture Development: develop accuracy requirements and evaluate progress.
  • Tool Development: build and automate data analysis software in C++, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Technical Communication: document findings and contribute to technical reports.
