Job summary

YMCA of Northwest North Carolina seeks a Swim Lesson Instructor to deliver private and group swimming instruction in line with YMCA guidelines, promoting water safety and stroke development for all ages. You will manage class engagement, monitor progress, and foster positive relationships with families.

Responsibilities include supervising aides, maintaining records, and ensuring safety protocols. Requires relevant certifications and ability to work varied hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• YMCA swim instructor certification or equivalent required within 90 days of hire.
• CPR for Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid and Oxygen required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Instruct private or group swimming lessons using lesson plans to teach water safety and stroke mechanics.
• Build relationships with students and parents, manage schedules, and refer families to YMCA programs.
• Maintain attendance logs and track student progress.
• Set up lesson equipment and report damaged items.
• Enforce pool rules and YMCA safety procedures; complete incident reports when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
