Job summary

YMCA of Greater Charlotte is seeking a part-time Swim Lesson Instructor to deliver safe, engaging instruction and promote water safety across age groups. You will follow YMCA guidelines, provide progress feedback, and support a supportive learning environment in a pool setting.

The role requires strong swimming skills, effective communication, and a passion for youth development. Evening and weekend availability is needed, with current YMCA safety certifications required.

Qualifications

• Strong swimming ability with knowledge of strokes
• Ability to engage and motivate swimmers of all ages
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Collaborate with team to deliver quality instruction
• Must be comfortable around water and adapt to skill levels

• Maintain current YMCA safety, risk, and programming certifications

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead structured swim lessons following YMCA guidelines.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Assess swimmers and provide individualized feedback.
• Ensure safety through supervision and pool rules enforcement.
• Communicate progress and expectations with parents/guardians.
• Adapt teaching methods for diverse learners.
• Assist in maintaining pool equipment and area cleanliness.
• Support aquatic programs and events as needed.
• Respond to concerns or emergencies promptly.
• Uphold YMCA core values in all activities.
