Job summary

The YMCA in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin is seeking a Swim Instructor to provide safe, engaging swim instruction under the supervision of the Aquatic Director. You will lead classes, motivate students, and model the YMCA’s core values while ensuring a welcoming environment for members and guests.

You must pass an advanced swimming test, hold current First-Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and be at least 15 years old (lifeguard certification required for 15-year-olds).

Qualifications

• Must pass an advanced swimming test.
• Current state-approved First-Aid certification and CPR for the Professional Rescuer are required.
• Minimum age 15 years; applicants aged 15 must have lifeguard certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead swim classes per the YMCA’s Swimming Lesson Program with enthusiasm.
• Create a welcoming, nurturing environment and maintain swimmer safety.
• Communicate progress to parents and participants; document class activities as required.
• Collaborate with Aquatics staff and work weekend shifts.
