Job summary

YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is seeking an Aquatic Specialist for Tri County YMCA in Menomonee Falls, WI, to ensure safety and high-quality experiences in pools and aquatic areas for members, guests and participants.

The role requires lifeguard or Red Cross lifeguard certification, at least 6 months swim instructor experience, and willingness to obtain YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification; candidate must be 18+, with physical strength and good judgment.

Qualifications

• Must pass advanced swimming and rescue skills test.
• Lifeguard certification (YMCA/Red Cross) required.
• Minimum 6 months as swim instructor; willingness to obtain YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification.
• Must be at least 18 years old; able to lift 50 lbs; strong safety awareness.
• Current Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid and AED certifications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lifeguard or swim instructor to ensure safety and quality experiences.
• Scan assigned zone to prevent accidents per lifeguard standards.
• Teach swim classes in YMCA program with high participation.
• Enforce safety rules and maintain emergency readiness.
• Develop rapport with members and work as part of a team.
• Assist with setup and maintenance of pool equipment and areas.
