Colliers Engineering & Design in College Station, TX is seeking a motivated Crew Chief to lead our survey team across residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. You will oversee field crews, coordinate data collection, and ensure quality results using the latest surveying technology.

Successful candidates will have prior crew chief experience, strong data collection skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff on boundary, topographic, and ALTA/NSPS surveys.

Qualifications

• Prior crew chief experience is a plus.
• Proficient with survey data collection techniques and notes.
• Ability to learn 3D scanners.

Responsibilities

• Lead one, two, or three-person crews on survey projects.
• Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS surveys and stakeouts.
• Plan and perform field surveys within project scope and budget.
• Supervise other survey crew members as needed.
• Prepare accurate field notes and daily activity reports.
• Carry out in-field calculations for stakeout and land surveys.
• Use Total Stations, GNSS, and data collectors to collect data.
• Mentor field staff to support advancement.

Job description

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a motivated Crew Chief to join our growing Survey team in College Station, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside talented professionals on a wide variety of residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects while utilizing the latest surveying technology. From boundary and topographic surveys to construction stakeouts, as-builts, and advanced laser scanning, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality data that helps bring projects to life. Responsibilities

• This position may include work as a leader of one, two or three-person crews.
• Survey projects include design surveys, right-of-way surveys, topographic surveys, aerial ground control, boundary and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
• Plan and perform an increased variety of field surveys within the defined project scope and budget, using the most efficient methods, and in accordance with applicable standards of practice.
• May supervise and direct other survey crew members.
• Interact with project site supervisors and client field representatives.
• Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and reports of daily activity in a timely manner.
• Perform in-field calculations for construction stakeout and various land surveys with moderate assistance from office support team.
• Prepare cut sheets for construction assignments as needed. Review and determine the validity of data collection.
• Demonstrate initiative in analyzing and developing solutions to issues encountered on projects.
• Operate and maintain the survey vehicle in accordance with the Company vehicle manual.
• Maintain, transport, and operate the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.
• Adhere to corporate and client Health and Safety program(s) and all applicable SOPs.
• Prepare or receive from the PM, the Health, and Safety Checklists. Review and instruct other crew personnel on all safety hazards, PPE, etc. associated with the work being performed.
• Use and instruct others to properly use Total Stations, Data Collector, GNSS, and other specialized survey equipment to collect data.
• Electronically transfer field data files, photos and associated forms to office team daily.
• Mentor field survey staff to facilitate advancement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED is required.
• Prior crew chief experience is a plus.
• Candidates must be proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.
• Experience with or the ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
• Candidate must be a self-starter, with little need for supervision once provided with a work assignment.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required. MVR will be checked and monitored.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Requires a pre-employment drug screen and will require ongoing participation in the employer's random drug and alcohol testing program.
