Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in College Station, TX is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to join our Survey team. You will assist the Crew Chief in field surveys, use Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS, and other equipment to collect data, upload/download field data, and may drive the survey vehicle.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 0-2 years of experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license may be required.

  • Intermediate knowledge of surveying practices and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate standard surveying equipment and follow safety procedures.
  • Use Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS to collect data.
  • Upload and download field data collections.
  • May drive the survey vehicle.
  • Set up instruments and prepare job sites for surveying.
  • Maintain safety and SOP compliance.
  • Care for survey instruments and equipment.

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to join our Survey team in College Station, TX. Join a collaborative team of professionals using advanced surveying and geospatial technology to support a variety of exciting projects. From collecting data in the field to contributing to critical infrastructure and development projects, you'll gain hands-on experience, work with cutting-edge equipment, and build a rewarding career in the surveying industry.

Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will assist Crew Chief in the performance of field surveys.
  • Perform assignments using standard equipment, work and safety methods.
  • Use Total Stations, Data Collector, GPS and other equipment to collect data.
  • Upload and download all field data collections.
  • May be required to drive the Survey vehicle.
  • Transport and set up the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.
  • Uses appropriate safety equipment and follows established work safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.
  • Responsible for care and maintenance of the survey instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.
  • Assist with maintaining equipment and stocking the survey vehicle.
  • Maintain, load and stock all supplies in the truck.
Qualifications
  • High School/GED or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of experience.
  • Valid Driver’s license may be required.
  • Demonstrate basic organizational skills and the awareness of prioritizing skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of surveying practices and equipment.
  • Ability to effectively operate/handle surveying equipment.
  • Effectively work as a team, collaborate, contribute and respect others.
  • Basic knowledge of math, geometry and trigonometry for the purpose of performing calculations.
  • Travel required occasionally, must be able to drive for long periods of time.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English to comprehend written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Requires a pre-employment drug screen and will require ongoing participation in the employer's random drug and alcohol testing program.
