Job summary

University of Southern California Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking a Surveillance Operations Field Training Officer. You will provide comprehensive training, oversight and mentorship to surveillance operations monitors, coordinate orientation programs, and assist with in-service training to ensure proficiency in daily operations.

The role involves collaborating with other departments, maintaining training records, and ensuring compliance with laws, policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent, combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
• 2+ years of related work experience.
• 1 year as USC Surveillance Operations Monitor.
• CA Driver's License; DMV Pull Notice System participation.
• Expert-level knowledge of CCTV and alarm monitoring.
• Operator experience with CCTV, license plate recognition, access control and alarm monitoring programs.
• Familiarity with relevant computer systems (e.g., Manitou, Genetec Security Desk, OnyxWorks).
• Strong procedures knowledge (parking, traffic control, security).
• Ability to work under pressure and exercise good judgment in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Design, coordinates and conducts training programs for new Surveillance Operations staff and updates training needs for current staff.
• Provide coaching, direction and guidance to trainees and evaluate performance.
• Assist in surveillance observation and support investigations.
• Develop, coordinate and facilitate in-service training for current staff and update training programs.
