Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a unit-based receptionist to greet patients and families, answer phones, and support a wide range of customer service activities on the unit. You will help coordinate tests, transports, and discharge follow-ups while maintaining a courteous, efficient environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities include answering calls, paging nurses, processing orders, and assisting with transfers.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of reading, writing, mathematical, and basic computer skills.
• MyMichigan Health is a technology driven organization and employees need to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows.
• BLS certification is preferred.
• Completion of a medical terminology course preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as receptionist and greeter, courteously answering all inquiries from patients, families, staff, and other departments and facilities.
• Answers phones and transfers calls. Pages or calls nurses, providers and/or families.
• Schedules follow-up appointments for patients being discharged.
• Communicates information pertinent to a patient’s care or comfort to relevant personnel.
